First Post

I've been thinking for awhile about starting a blog.  I had one about three years ago, but I was dreadful at keeping up with it, so that was abandoned long ago.  

I'm not a very good writer, except for boring things like research papers.  My mother laughs at me when I say this, but seriously Mom - Shirtwaist strike of 1909?  I'm on it.  Life in general?  Bit of a struggle.  But, if I want to become a better writer, practice is in order.  

About me - I'm a clerical worker in Orange County, California.  I work in a cubicle.  It's boring.  I did not go to college for this.  The escape plan is in the works, but the plan is quite murky as of now.  Jobs are difficult to find, especially when one has a degree in History and very few marketable skills besides typing (really, really good at typing - all those research papers) and computer things.  That's what I need to attain - a marketable skill.  Like, paralegal or accounting or librarian skills.  Something useful.
