Stories to Think About

This is a really great blog about being pre-engaged.

This is one of the best Modern Love’s I’ve read.  I especially like this part:

“But my husband has seen me at my worst, at my most vile. And he has seen me at my best. He knows the things I don’t tell anyone, and the lies that I tell everyone but him. I have made sacrifices for him and been angry about it. Sometimes his flaws are so egregious, so blatant, they are all I see. And sometimes his kindness is so stunning that I am humbled. And that’s love. Big, epic, fairy-tale love. The kind of love people write about. The kind of love that could inspire a poem.”

The Big 5-0

The wedding is 7 weeks away, and I am freaking out.  Since I stopped dancing, I’ve put on about 30 pounds.  Work is extremely stressful, and what do I do when I’m stressed?  Eat.  Eat and eat and eat and eat and eat.  It’s starting to show in my chin.

I’m thinking about doing a diet for the next 7 weeks, but I half-think I won’t stick to it.  If I cut out processed carbs, eating veggies and protein for 7 weeks, I think that will let me drop a few.  I thought about doing the 30 day shred, but maybe I should just walk?  So confusing.  Also, I’m retaining water in my feet, so I’m going to take some diuretics for that, and it should help.

Of course, I’ll allow processed carbs for Thanksgiving and the bridal shower.  Both of which are coming up super fast.

I can’t believe in 50 days I will be a bride.  Oh.  My.  Goodness.

Today is my mom’s 49th birthday!  Happy Birthday Mom!!

The Wedding Will Start on Time!

You heard me.  J  December 17, 2011 at 1PM sharp, the 6 minute slideshow will start.  So you should be on time.  ALL of you.

2-Bite Cinnamon Roll, 2-Bite Caramel scone, Macaroon

(For the record, the cinnamon roll was 4 bites, and the scone was 6.)

Whenever we get a new vendor at work, they bring goodies.  Yay!

Weekend Happenings

No pictures from the weekend – sorry.  On Friday we saw Shanna’s burlesque troupe with their Halloween show.  It was seriously amazing.  I enjoyed it so very much!  The songs were great, the dancing was fantastic, and the costumes were phenomenal.  They won’t have another show until July 2012, but you can always see if they are doing small performances.  Their website is www.voluptuousentertainment.com.

On Saturday, Matt and I were apartment hunting.  We found one we like, but we’ll see what happens.  My parents went to the Cuff’s house for dinner, so that was fun.

After church on Sunday, Matt and I went to my family get together in Norco, and then got fabric for our Halloween costumes.  We are the fairy king and queen from A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Today I have to finish mailing the invitations... Not as many people were at church as I had hoped, so we have to mail them today.

Fantastic Friday

I’ve been over stimulated most of the morning.  It’s not a fun experience.  You know that feeling you get when you are excited about something?  Well imagine you feel that 10 times over – for no reason whatsoever.  I feel excited about things all the time.  But when that feeling buries into my chest, it’s almost like a panic attack.  My arms tremble, my vision is intermittently blurry, my fingers type faster than ever and I talk so fast no one can understand me.  I need to do relaxation exercises, but I still have 2.5 hours left of work.

The invitations (the ones that get mailed) were mailed today.  I took the Dash up to the post office in the Water Court, and guess what I saw?

Aren’t they just lovely?  Bless their little hearts.

Autumn (or Too Little Sleep)

You know it’s autumn here in Los Angeles when every day starts out with intense, thick fog, which burns off into a blazing scorcher.  During the summer, it’s either foggy most of the day or hot all day, but autumn is a little of both.

These are the things I think about when I stay up way too late working on aisle decorations for the wedding.

I think I fixed my veil.  Previously, it had a headband, but it wasn’t staying on my head.  My veil was too heavy.  So I took it all apart, and just used a comb.  I’m not sure the comb is large enough, though.  It’s a small comb, not one of the huge ones designed for veils.

And then my day was completely ruined by hearing that Caine has topped Romney in the polls.  The man is an idiot.  If Caine gets the Republican nomination, I’m voting for Obama.

Weekend Update

A piñata.  Which we did not get.

This weekend was busy (of course).  Matt came down Friday night, and we watched Marie Antoinette (he hated it, I love it).  On Saturday, Matt had class, and I had coffee with a lady at church.  We went to gaming with Jocelyn and Robert – among others.  It was a little boring (I did fall asleep right in the middle of an “interrogation”), but we gamed for about 8 or 9 hours.

Because of that, I was super tired on Sunday, and I did not want to make the drive to and back from Encino.  So we went to CC Cypress, and that was nice.  Then we went supply shopping (major sale at Jo-Ann’s), and I can definitely say there is light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to wedding crafting!!  The only things left to buy are gift bags for the bridesmaids gifts, another bolt of tulle, and the unity candles.  I made 7 cupcake stands, and Matt punched flowers for the aisle decorations.  I thought I finished my veil.  I added a tier, but now it’s too heavy, and I have to adjust it tonight.

Busy Weekend Happenings

Things are starting to speed up here with the wedding quickly approaching.  Less than 10 weeks until “I do”, and there is still so much to finish.

Most of the decorations are finished, but I still haven’t finished the guest book, “Love” banners, or even started the card box.  I also want to make some little flags for people to wave when we escape.

My bridal shower was Saturday.  I had a lot of fun, and Gina and Brittany did a great job of throwing it.  Beth had her CPA exam, so she wasn’t there, and Trinity didn’t come down.  Shanna had car trouble, so she didn’t make it either.  We played games like, making a wedding dress out of toilet paper, how well do you know the bride… things like that.  It was super fun.

On Sunday, we stopped by Fabric Barn in Long Beach to get ribbon and tulle.  I needed ribbon for the bouquets and the aisle decorations.  The tulle is for the aisle decorations.  I got 40 yds for $16, which is really good.  But the pew part of the aisle is 50 feet long, so for both, it’s 100 feet.  Is 120 feet going to be enough tulle for 100 feet of pews?  I’m wondering if I should get more tulle, and then use any leftover for the altar.  I think that would be the best idea.

The invitations are almost ready to send out.  I have to finish printing, and then cut them, then stuff and mail.  Actually – a lot of them are being handed out at church to save money.  Stamps are expensive!

Weekend Happenings

This weekend was nice.  On Friday night, Matt and I saw Moneyball.  It was enjoyable, but not something I would see again.  Saturday, Matt went to class and I went to Barnes & Noble and read for awhile.  In the afternoon, we had gaming with Robert, Jocelyn, and Jacob.  On Sunday, we had church, then went to Matt’s house and watched movies.  We finished stamping the invitations.  Looking back, it doesn’t seem like it should have been stressful, but it actually was.

Matt and I got a 2010 Focus.  It’s very pretty, and we purchased a warranty for another 4 years or 100,000 miles.  It was a good price.

I got the pretty. J
